Back in the eighties or so, Jim Nabors, best known for his portrayal of “Gomer Pyle”, was reported dead of AIDS. The report, as I recall, even ran on national news channels. The news was interesting to Mr. Nabors, I am sure. As far as I know, as of this writing, he is still living on his farm in Hawaii.
(And in case he ever finds his way to this blog, Mr. Nabors, I loved both your acting AND your voice!)

These are the real “Carrie” and “Grace” from Laura Ingalls Wilder’s “Little House” series. There isn’t really much information available about either of them. While they do in fact each deserve their own separate entries here, I would be hard pressed to come up with a full entry based on the information available to me.
Carrie was born on Aug. 3, 1870, and passed away on Jun. 2, 1946.
Grace was born on May 23, 1877 and passed away on Nov. 10, 1941.
Carrie is buried in the DeSmet Cemetary with the rest of her family, in DeSmet, South Dakota. There is no information available to me about the burial location of Grace.

Caroline Lake Quiner Ingalls, the mother of esteemed children’s author Laura Ingalls Wilder, was born on Dec. 12, 1839. She is one of the characters so well described by her daughter in the “Little House” books, and that character was played by Karen Grassle in the “Little Houe on the Prairie” television series, which was based on the book series. The show was very popular and ran for many years. Caroline Ingalls, along with her pioneer husband, was a founding citizen of the town of DeSmet in South Dakota. She died on Apr. 20, 1924 and was buried in the DeSmet Cemetary, near most of the rest of her family.
