And now just a side note….

March 22nd, 2008

Ghost hunters and grave hunters tend to do an awful lot of traveling, and when airlines and buses are involved, there are a lot of problems, the worst, maybe, being mislaid luggage. We carry a lot of expensive equipment, and this is just a reminder… a lot of “fiscal years” are coming to an end out there. Don’t forget to renew your travel health insurance and luggage insurance. When you need it is not the best time to find out that you accidentally let it lapse!

FAMOUS EPITAPH: Winston Churchill

March 20th, 2008

Winston Churchill was arguably one of the greatest statesmen that ever lived. His speeches are still cited in classrooms around the world. He was an extremely complicated man. Apparently, he realized this himself, as it is reflected in his chosen epitaph:

I am ready to meet my Maker.

Whether my Maker is prepared for the great ordeal
of meeting me is another matter.

Rest in peace, Mr. Churchill.

FAMOUS EPITAPH: William Shakespeare

March 20th, 2008

William Shakespeare’s work has been the bane of high school and college students for decades. Perhaps these students should be very glad they didn’t have to be responsible for analyzing his epitaph as well, since it’s almost as confusing as his comedies. Apparently, the Bard couldn’t even leave this world behind without trying to solilequize:

GOOD FREND FOR JESUS SAKE FORBEARE TO
DIGG THE DUST ENCLOASED HEARE.
BLEST BE YE MAN YT SPARES THES STONES AND
CURST BE HE YT MOVES MY BONES

Ah, well. Rest in peace, Mr. Shakespear…. whatever you said.

CURRENT OBIT: Gary Gygax

March 20th, 2008

Gary Gygax, co-creator of the game Dungeons and Dragons, passed away on March 4th. He was 69 years old. It is perhaps a sad commentary on our society that someone who caused such worldwide culturalo change could pass almost unnoticed from this world. His passing has barely recieved a nod from the news media, and, for the most part, even the zealous addicts of the game he made famous have been silent.
