Back in the eighties or so, Jim Nabors, best known for his portrayal of “Gomer Pyle”, was reported dead of AIDS. The report, as I recall, even ran on national news channels. The news was interesting to Mr. Nabors, I am sure. As far as I know, as of this writing, he is still living on his farm in Hawaii.

(And in case he ever finds his way to this blog, Mr. Nabors, I loved both your acting AND your voice!)

Apparently, 2001 was an incredibly unlucky year for Britney Spears. In June of that year, a radio station reported that she and Justin Timberlake had been killed in a car crash, together. Apparently neither of the pair had the sense to lie down, because later that same year a faked up web page killed off Britney again, in another car accident. You’d think she would learn to stay off the information highway, wouldn’t you?

(for those of you who need to be told, both Britny and Justin are alive and well at this time.)

Back in about June of this year, when Paris Hilton was doing her overblown, overpublicized, and rather undeserved stint in jail, several websites popped up claiming that she had been stabbed to death while in jail… and then there were the websites that claimed she had committed suicide. The websites had a tendency to look very professional (one even mimicked CNN), but the reports were, of course, false. Paris is still with us.
